Boston Marathon Trip

What a chance of a lifetime it was to travel to Boston for the Marathon, especially the year after the bombings. The atmosphere was electric and Boston citizens would frequently thank Orson for coming and running. It was also wonderful to tour all the amazing historical sites there.
This grey building is Sam Adams actual house. The cobblestone streets were so cool.
At the Bunker Hill monument. We climbed the 230+ stairs to the top, maybe a bad idea 2 days before a marathon.
Orson was really lucky to score some tickets to a Red Sox game from a work vender based in Boston. It was really cool just to say we were there.

We were able to meet up with our friends the Neuenschwanders also from Kaysville for this racer's pasta dinner and again another evening. They were both running the Marathon.
It was unseasonably cold while we were there. They donate any shed clothing to charity, so everyone wears their oldest, yuckiest clothes. Here he is on his way to catch the subway to the starting line bus.
I took the subway all the way out to mile 16 to watch the race and cheer him on. Does he look excited to see me? He actually ran over to give me a kiss before continuing on.
I was watching again at mile 25, but he was so delirious by then, he did not hear me. His time was 3:30, which is not his best by far, but miraculous considering his injury and lack of training because of it. We asked a passerby to take our picture and it ended up being an under cover cop.
The next day we went to the aquarium and touring the last few museums we missed including Old Ironsides here.
