Hawaii, Day 1

In case you haven't heard the whole story of how we ended up going on this amazing trip. . .
Back in maybe January, we had just gotten our rejection letter for the Nauvoo Pageant and were feeling sad and had a wide open summer when we got one of those promotional phone calls from Hilton Grand Vacations offering us a highly discounted week in Hawaii if we attended a Timeshare presentation while there.  Our kids had always wanted to go to Hawaii since Orson and I had  vacationed there 7 years ago, when my sister Annisha lived there.  We originally booked the big island, but couldn't find decent airfare, so switched to Oahu where we also knew of more things to do since we had been there before.  We found this great discount airline and flew round-trip for only $350 per person, although we had to drive to Vegas to catch our flight. When we arrive at the property, they had to give us a 3 bedroom since the 2 Bedrooms were all booked. Our room was on floor 24, but there was no floor 24 listed in the elevator, just PH, which we soon found out stood for Penthouse.  Our room was a 2-story with huge vaulted ceilings, a giant balcony right on Waikiki beach, 4 bathrooms (wasted on boys), huge dining room, and even a Foosball table.  It was incredible. We later found out that room rents for $4400 a night! Anyway, it was a incredible vacation, well worth the 3 hour timeshare meeting we had to endure. I decided to let the kids do the blogging for this trip, so enjoy!

In the morning of our first day there, after grocery shopping at the 2-story Walmart/ Sam's Club, we went swimming at the lagoon, pool and the beach just outside the condo. The pool had some slides, two hot tubs, and a shallow pool for kids.
This is of us in the pool at our hotel. Dad bought a fun new toy- a waterproof camera that we had a lot of fun with!
This is Dad (Orson) holding a lizard he found underneath his pillow at the hotel.

This is Colby practicing his snorkeling.
This is the view from our hotel patio.
