The highlight of this year's race was Lance and Derek taking 1st and 3rd in the 12 and under age category for the 5K. Lance ran a killer time of 23:06, almost keeping up with veteran Aunt Annette and Derek ran with Deveri the whole time but beat her by 3 seconds at the end with a time of 26:03.
Kurt ran a good race (especially with those short little legs). His cousin Wil took first in this 800 meter race. Orson took 3rd in his age group and Deveri, not normally a competitor, took 4th in her age group.
Colby ran his little heart out. After the race he was exhausted and in tears saying "I think I came in last". Mom: "No you didn't look at all these little boys behind you." (The parents behind us give mean glares)
Even cute Micah ran his little 200 m race! Our family tradition expanded a little more this year. In addition to Annette's family, Alaina, Jared, and Deveri's parents, this year Angela came down from Idaho to run with us and Orson's parents came to watch. We had a great time at the race, watched the parade, went out for lunch at the Creamery on 9th, and some of us got to go to the football game.
