Lance went to his first real Scout Court of Honor and got all of the awards he's been collecting up: Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class and 6 merit badges. He recently went to a Merit Badge Pow Wow where he got to take two classes of his choosing: Law and Geology (he's currently debating between those two professions).
Lance also recently won the Spectrum Chess Tournament. It was a great surprise to him and some of his classmates, because this is a very competitive competition involving over 100 gifted students from all over the city. He is pretty good at chess, but he credits his win to his ability to stay calm under the pressure of the "lightning rounds". Way to go Lance!He also added Wrestling to his repretoire of sports this winter. His uncle Jeremy has always told him he'd be good at wrestling (and he gets a little practice at home). But he shocked me when he came home one day saying he wanted to register for this wrestling camp and tournament, he just doesn't ususally volunteer to do things. They weighed him with his coat on (which probably had rocks in the pockets), so he got put in too heavy of a weight class, but I was so proud of him for getting out there (it looked a little scary to me) and giving it his all.
