We had our big Blue and Gold Banquet Saturday night and it was the best ever. The theme was American A,B,C's. Sorry, this is kind of a dark picture, but hopefully you can see Pres. Obama along with the cute new Wolf leader presenting Derek with his awards.

They taught some country line dancing, the Virginia Reel with the cubs and moms and the Hokey Pokey. We were shocked to see Lance and Derek be the first ones out on the floor, totally getting into it (they knew the dances from school).

We had a hot dog eating contest: The first boy to finish 3 hot dogs and 1 bun wins. To everyone's surprise (except ours), Lance (who isn't even a cub scout anymore) won the contest! I've been telling everyone for years, my kids can eat their kids under the table, but they just have nothing to show for it. Now we finally proved it. Lance actually went and picked up another hot dog to eat with the rest of his dinner!

Our Cubmaster, who is in the National Guard, did a mini boot camp for the scouts and taught them some military moves. They were pretty impressed and are all talking about joining the military now. It was a very fun evening and being in charge of the food this year was a breeze compared to last year. I actually just got moved form being the Primary counsellor over cub scouts and am already in withdrawal. Orson is still the Webelos leader, though. I'll have to start up a Tiger Cub den for Kurt when he turns 7.
